Twenty-fifteen Update

Happy 2015! This is just a short post to; firstly, apologise for my lack of posts over Christmas, and secondly, to tell you about the exciting new things coming in 2015! 2014 was a super eventful year ... 2014 started with me working as a Junior Developer in a position that just wasn't right for me. From there, I made one of the scariest decisions I've made so far, and left my job to go freelance after just 5 months professional experience. Fortunately, I was able to work solidly for 2 months, when I was then hired by AutoTrader as a professional-level UX Developer. And now, after 9 months with AutoTrader, I have to say... I bloody love my job.

So far, 2015 has started with a lot of momentum. I'm looking forward to writing about the recently released AutoTrader Valuations tool. This post will also go straight into my portfolio and it should be a good insight into the world behind the scenes at AutoTrader (and I am still planning on writing about my work on the AutoTrader style-guide and doing a bit more of a deep dive into my recent SVG implementation). I'm also currently doing a lot of work on my JavaScript skills, I've recently focussed on working with Backbone.js, Underscore.js and Require.js. I'm also really looking forward to the upcoming AngularJS2.0, there's a lot of exciting things happening this year (and a lot I need to learn). Another project I am just starting now is the redesign of one of my earlier commissions. I'm seriously excited about this one, and I've already done a lot of preliminary work on a new logo which I might post some time soon!

Looking back at the start of 2014, my development and design skills were a million miles away from what they are entering 2015. I can only hope that at the start of 2016 I'll be looking back to this point and thinking the same.
